Day 6 & 7 at MDW 2025: The Quiet Impact of Great Design
Posted on Monday April 14, 2025
As Milan Design Week 2025 reached its crescendo, the city buzzed with ideas exploring our connection to space, material, and nature. This year's theme, “Mondi Connessi” or Connecting Worlds came alive at MDW2025 through cross-cultural collaborations and boundary-blurring designs that bridged global perspectives.
Here are a few moments that stayed with us:
Inspired by Ruffino’s Riserva Ducale
Oro, the project returns with a renewed vision—where the table becomes a stage for wine, design, and creativity.
Against War. 7 Designers for Emergency at
Triennale Design Museum presents EMERGENCY’s unwavering stance against conflict, brought to life through deeply evocative objects created by seven designers invited by Giulio Iacchetti.
Natuzzi’s Memoria bed by Karim Rashid fuses Italian craftsmanship with smart innovation, offering motorised headrests and footrests for tailored comfort.
Meet Mooove by
Koinor – winner of the German Design Award 2025 – a sculptural sofa that splits into two swivel, rock, and glide-ready seats, all controlled by two intuitive levers.
Since the 1970s,
Ezpeleta’s beach umbrellas and terrace parasols have been a staple of Spanish leisure. As they mark their 90th anniversary, they carry forward a lasting legacy in outdoor living.
Ugo Rondinone’s summer moon, cold moon, spring moon, singing moon (2011) was part of his long-running series of white-painted aluminum olive tree sculptures.
A crowd favorite at the
Koinor booth, the Phoenix sofa offers versatile seating styles with adjustable headrests, seats, and armrests - designed to rotate, swivel, and move.
Disguised as an armchair, Paradis Moon by
Fama reveals a hidden bed - blending comfortable seating with a plush retreat.
The final showcase - a heartfelt close to a week of reflection, reinvention, and reconnection.
As Milan Design Week 2025 wraps, one truth stands tall: great design doesn’t just shape objects - it reshapes how we live, feel, and connect. Materia Natura reminded us that the future lies in harmony - with nature, with material, with meaning.

The Best of MDW Day 5: Fresh Purpose & Perspectives
Posted on Friday April 11, 2025
Five days into the 63rd edition of Milan Design Week, and Milan still has plenty of tricks up its (beautifully tailored) sleeve. Just when we thought we’d seen it all over the last four days, Day 5 served up fresh perspectives — playful shapes, clever functionality, and original, stand-out stories tucked into the seams. Here's what had us snapping photos and stealing ideas.
Fama’s
Infinity XL sofa offers an element of versatile elegance and sink-in comfort for every kind of space.
Itoku is a modern reinterpretation of the traditional oriental screen, designed to provide both privacy and a dynamic aesthetic.
SaloneSatellite is where the next generation of design talent takes centre stage — bold, fresh, and future-forward.
Space by Koinor – an iconic island-style design that facilitates swivelling, stretching out, sitting up, and everything in between.
Progress in motion — the Audi House of Progress returns as a striking convergence of innovation, design, and vision.
With immersive storytelling and exhibitions, the Triennale Design Museum showcases design culture, which continues to inspire.
Day 5 proved that inspiration doesn’t slow down here — it just evolves, surprises, and shifts shape when you least expect it. As we head into the final stretch, one thing’s clear: the creativity in this city isn’t winding down, it’s just warming up. Stay tuned on our socials and website as you bring you all the LIVE updates you need.
Day 4 at MDW 2025: Where the Design is in the Details
Posted on Friday April 11, 2025By Day 4, the 63rd edition of Milan Design Week felt like a living canvas. Designs weren’t just shown, they were felt: in textures, in spaces, in the way people navigated through them. Thoughtful details, refined palettes, and ideas that lingered long after the first impression – all underlined what we saw and experienced. Here are some of the highlights from the fourth day.
With its soothing shades and a versatile seating system,
Fama’s sofas bring an element of sculptural elegance and deep comfort to any space.
Elevating interiors with luminous artistry, Reflex creates lighting that feels strikingly ethereal.
With
Koinor chairs, everyday living meets ergonomic precision in bright shades or classy, subdued hues.
New
Natuzzi Comfortness sofas implement their state-of-the-art triple motion mechanism and “365” seating system to nurture complete comfort for the mind and body.
An evening with
NicolettiHome, where expression lived and breathed, and design took the floor in more ways than one.
With each space we enter, a new story unfolds — shaping a vision of living that’s both elevated and deeply human. Stay tuned on our socials and website as you bring you all the LIVE updates you need, as they unfold in the world’s design capital.
Day 3 at MDW 2025: The Design Dialogue Continues in Milan
Posted on Thursday April 10, 2025

As we find ourselves approaching the midway point into the
63rd edition of Milan Design Week, the world’s design capital feels like a
living archive – each district layered with ideas, textures, and voices. On Day
3 of the world’s premium design event, we saw a shift — from statement pieces
to quieter, more intentional work — and a deeper focus on storytelling.
We started off the day by visiting the Fama booth, where we
saw their new fabric sofas, combining soft textures with soothing shades and
new chic prints. While the sofas in different hues offer a soothing palette and
plush seating that enriches any living space, Fama’s printed sofas inspiredfrom Javier Mariscal’s art offer a canvas of comfort where textile meets
imagination in every stitch.
Next up, we visited the Koinor booth where we came across
their collection of designs that help in unwinding effortlessly while wrapped
in elegance. While their rocking armchairs bring motion and relaxation into
perfect balance, their sofas unite sleek design with cutting-edge technology –
a true celebration of artful silhouettes meeting expressive hues in
harmony.
We then visited the Natuzzi stall where we stumbled upon
their new Mindful 365 sofas. These sofas implement their state-of-the-art
triple motion mechanism and “365” seating system to nurture complete relaxation
for the mind and body – while ensuring the perfect balance between breathing
and heart rate for holistic wellness. We then moved on to the NicolettiHome
installation where we experienced their new recliners featuring fully
adjustable headrests – courtesy of a mechanism that supports both forward and backward
motion.
Sofas continued to steal the spotlight on Day 3, as we
discovered a plethora of sofas that combine heritage with innovation. Modular
muses in motion, shaped by softness and stillness – we saw NicolettiHome sofas
featuring plush cushioning and adjustable backrests for complete relaxation,
followed by pieces from Pianca and Calia Italia that were the definition of
sleek silhouettes and thoughtful craftsmanship – thoroughly engineered for
personalised comfort.
Next, we visited the Alf outfit where we came across their
desks and dining tables – while their desks designed for focus support clarity
without compromising on design, their lacquered tables strike a perfect balance
between shine and structure. We capped off the day by visiting the Jaked x Connubia collaboration outfit – a lightweight and sustainable piece inspired by
the fluidity of athletic movement, and which is perfect for any setting – from
the living room to the gym.
As the third day of Milan Design Week 2025 came to a close,
it was clear that the conversation around design is deepening. The focus has
shifted from the purely visual to the conceptual — where craft, context, and
cultural narrative take center stage. Stay tuned on our socials and website as
you bring you all the LIVE updates you need from the world’s greatest design
event.
Day 1 and 2 at MDW 2025: The Best of Design at Milan So Far
Posted on Tuesday April 08, 2025
The 2025 edition of Milan Design Week unfolded with a quiet intensity - a city rich in design history opening its doors once again to innovation, dialogue, and experimentation. From meticulously curated exhibitions to spontaneous encounters with form and material, Day 1 set the tone for what’s ahead - especially courtesy of our visit to the Superdesign Show which featured design ideas reimagined in an unprecedented manner.
As Milan Design Week 2025 moved into Day 2, the design dialogue only intensified. With each installation buzzing with the spirit of discovery, today's showcase offered a deeper dive into the evolving language of design - where form meets function, function meets freedom, and innovation continues to challenge the expected.
Beginning our journey on the second day, we found ourselves at Museo Poldi Pezzoli – where we came across Molteni&C flaunting their Letters to Milan installation. Since 1934, Molteni&C have exemplified innovation in design, and the Letters to Milan collection curated by Studio Klass represented a celebration of the city’s history and design evolution over the years. Continuing to explore the Museo Poldi Pezzoli, we then came across the latest edition of Gio Ponti Objects – a heartfelt tribute to the legacy of the legendary Milanese design maestro Gio Ponti.

Moving on, we reached the heart of Milan where we came across Palazzo Molteni, a flagship store housing state-of-the-art designs that combine tradition with transformation. The urban pavilion redefines the boundaries of design, expanding the scope of an eclectic discipline that has been shaped by cross-pollination and forward-thinking ideas. Inspired by the fusion of heritage and innovation on display, we went over to Studio Penta next.
At Studio Penta, we came across “Romantic Brutalism: A Journey into Polish Craft and Design” – an exhibition by the Visteria Foundation serving as a tribute to Poland’s craft and creativity. The exhibition – including the Marcin Rusak Studio and an installation dedicated to Agnieszka Owsiany – was testimony of how the historical influence of brutalism, romanticism, folk, and art deco continues to shape contemporary Polish design.
Moving on, we visited the NicolettiHome installation where we came across sofas that reimagine the concept of comfort as we know it – helping achieve unparalleled relaxation just at the push of a button.
We continued our course through couches as we visited the Koinor installation, where we came across sofas that provide an exceptional element of versatility courtesy of its unprecedented convertible arm and leg rest.
Lastly, we visited the Fama installation where we saw their fabric recliners exemplify a fusion of fashion and flexibility, with its chic, fashionable upholstery adding an element of style to the art of relaxation.
With the beginning behind us, the tone for this year’s edition of the world’s premium design event has been set. We’ve seen plenty, and yet it feels like the surface has only just been scratched. The journey ahead is full of possibilities, and we’re just getting started – make sure to stay tuned on our socials and website as you bring you all the LIVE updates you need.
MDW 2025: The Best of Superdesign
Posted on Tuesday April 08, 2025
Day 1 at Milan Design Week 2025 opened with a vibrant surge
of creativity, innovation, and boundary-pushing design. As the doors swung
open, the global design community converged amidst bold ideas, striking
installations, and future-forward concepts that reimagine the way we live and
interact with our spaces.
Starting it all off, Day 1 took us to the Superdesign Show
in Milan, where we explored the unseen future of living spaces, and witnessed
tradition give way to transformation in real time. Designs sculpted harnessing
technology and keeping the future in mind stole the show on the opening day, and
set the tone for what’s to follow over the next week.
Design and water beautifully combined in Geberit’s Where
Water Meets Design – an immersive experience that celebrates and harnesses
the essence of water into innovation. We then came across OneFabrica’s One-fab
objects “f(x) = ? ” – an innovative, and sustainable technology crafting
reusable and eco-friendly structures from aluminum pipes and fabric.
More innovation followed as we came across Light Bites
from Habits – luminous, interactive tableware that uses lighting to add a
performative element to the art of dining, while Artphabetable by Daniele
Cema, a low table composed of an ensemble of small canvases brought the
disciplines of art, graphics and design together in an unprecedented
manner.
Next up, we saw KALD Studio’s SurfBench – a bench
that redefines seating as we know it, harnessing kinetic energy into a smooth,
wave-like motion without motors or electricity. We then moved on to Carla
Tolomeo’s L’albero della vita, a surreal work of art that serves as a
metaphor for the constant renewal of existence, before we stumbled upon Niklas
Jacob’s Funnyture – a furniture collection that explores the boundaries
between design and communication by prioritising artistic expression.
Next, we came the Unforgettable exhibition curated by
Giulio Cappellini and Leonardo Talarico, a celebration of the spontaneous way
of living design – following which, we came across Elizabeth – The Queen Of
Bowls by United Pets, an elevated pet bowl featuring an Elizabethan
collar with a pop identity.
Lastly, we saw “A-Un” and “Discover Together” from Lexus -
two compelling statements on the ever-evolving potential value of individual
experiences through vehicles – while the former explored the relationship
between software and humans alongside the future of mobility, the latter
emphasises “co-creation” with creators, featuring a number of interactive and
collaborative works of art.
Day 1 of Milan Design Week 2025 was a testament to how
design continues to evolve, challenge convention, and shape the way we
experience the world. As the week unfolds, we look forward to uncovering more
ideas that redefine possibilities – stay tuned for all the LIVE updates you
need.
Milan Design Week 2025: What Can We Expect?
Posted on Wednesday April 02, 2025
As design transforms, form surrenders to freedom. Innovation takes center stage, redefining living spaces with creativity, function, and bold new perspectives. With Milan Design Week 2025 set to take centre stage in the world of design from 7th to 13th April, Simply Sofas is set to bring you the unseen future of living spaces – LIVE and straight from Milan to your living room. But before that, take a look at the themes we think will reign supreme this year.
Maximalism
The minimalist aesthetic has had its time in the sun, and we expect maximalism to end its heyday with a grand arrival at Milan Design Week 2025. Bold colours in furniture, intricately crafted accents, and opulent cabinets are back in vogue, as the layering of different ornate elements adds diverse depth and interest to any contemporary setting – making every corner of the living space a feast to the eyes.
Integrated Outdoor Living
The boundaries between indoor and outdoor furniture are fading fast, and furniture that can work as either is a theme that is likely to be in focus during Milan Design Week 2025. Similar to outdoor sofas, cosy seating suites, or weather-resistant daybeds, one can expect more furniture that toes the line between indoor and outdoor to be on display during the upcoming edition of the world’s greatest furniture exhibition.
Discreet Tech
Technology continues to advance with every passing year, and in 2025, it is likely that it will become even more seamlessly integrated into our furniture. Discreet tech essentially means incorporating technology into living spaces in a way that blends effortlessly with the décor – and it is likely that Milan Design Week 2025 provides us with more furniture that integrates AI, such as voice-controlled closets and kitchens, AI-powered sofas and recliners, and much more.
Eco-Friendly Living
Sustainability remains at the forefront of modern interior design trends, making it a probable key theme in Milan Design Week 2025. Designers across the globe are focused more than ever on creating aesthetic spaces that are built keeping the planet’s future in mind. Be it 100% recyclable furniture, or outdoor furniture built to facilitate an eco-friendly approach – sustainable furniture is the call of the hour.
Statement Lighting
In 2025, lighting is no longer only functional – it’s a key design element that transforms the ambiance of a room. Contemporary lighting fixtures such as suspended lamp models often double as works of art – providing a whole different dimension to one’s living space. This Milan Design Week, one can expect statement lighting to be a key theme – accentuating the mood and style of any modern setting.
Back in Black
Black is back in fashion as the go-to colour to deck up your living space in 2025. When used sparingly, black provides an effortless contrast, making other colors pop and bringing a modern edge to interiors. For the bold design enthusiast, this might be the perfect time to provide a splash of black monochrome across furniture, accents, or décor to make a statement.
And there you have it, all the themes that we think will hog the limelight in this year’s edition of Milan Design Week! From the finest brands in the world such as Molteni&C, Natuzzi Italia and Pianca, we bring you the latest trends and updates as they happen straight from Milan. A Stroll Through Our Summer Outdoor Escape
Posted on Tuesday March 25, 2025
Sunlight filters through swaying leaves. Time seems to stand
still beneath blue skies. The soft hum of nature and the scent of blooming
flowers create a quiet rhythm, inviting a sense of calm – unveiling the perfect
backdrop for a warm summer outdoor retreat. Speaking of which, why don’t we
walk you through ours?
As we step out of the back door onto the lawn, we see our
cosy little retreat – a stretch of lush greenery encircled by a stone pathway,
with a crystal-clear swimming pool in the middle. Positioned at the pool's
edge, we come across the Vila
sun lounger by Ezpeleta, crafted with Phifertex® fabric for easy
maintenance, antibacterial protection, and moisture resistance. Adjustable to
five different positions, it allows you to soak up the afternoon sun at just
the right angle, inviting quiet relaxation – cool drink in hand, soft warmth on
your skin, and the occasional splash of water adding to the sense of
tranquillity.

A little further along the poolside, a sleek Quatro Duo
Fix table awaits, set with refreshments. Sturdy and impact-resistant,
this Ezpeleta table stands strong against everything from a toddler’s playful
shove to a mild storm. Flanking it are Ezpeleta’s Fado chairs,
crafted from 100% recyclable materials that come with anti-UV protection to
keep the surface cool so you can bask in the sunlight comfortably.
Completing this setup is the
Eolo Pureti umbrella, offering
both shade and cleaner air. Winner of the prestigious Red Dot Award, this
anti-pollution umbrella with photocatalytic nanotechnology actively purifies
the air. Much like trees, it neutralises toxic gases in urban settings, and
when exposed to sunlight and air humidity, its treated fabric removes harmful
substances - letting you relax under a canopy of fresh air. After a refreshing
pause with mojitos in hand, we continue our stroll.

The stone pathway leads to a more secluded space where the
Ibiza Daybed
stays nestled beneath the soft canopy of overhanging branches. With its
durable and easy-to-clean Nautic mattress, and canopy made with
stress-resistant Dralon® fabric ideal for outdoor spaces, the daybed promises
complete comfort under the sun. Positioned to overlook both the glint of the
pool and the soft blush of blooms, the daybed becomes quite a hideaway – a
place where time seems to stretch, and the world falls into a slow, sunlit
rhythm.
As we trace our steps back along the pathway, you might
wonder, What if I have guests who want to be part of my summer escape too?
That’s where the
Palinfrasca
outdoor sofa, positioned just outside our villa, comes in. Designed by the
visionary Vincent van Duysen for
Molteni&C, this versatile sofa can be
moved and reassembled as desired, ensuring that every guest finds a comfortable
seat as we watch the amber sun sink into the horizon.
And there you have it, all the elements of a perfect summer
outdoor escape. As the season unfolds, it’s time to give in to the indulgence,
with the sunglasses on and perhaps a slice of watermelon or a scoop of ice
cream in hand.

What’s #trending in Interiors?
Posted on Wednesday January 08, 2025As we step ahead, we see the world of interiors leaning into individuality, warmth, and a sense of personal expression. Homes are going beyond aesthetics to become reflections of the people who live in them. This year’s furniture trends are about blending comfort with bold design, creating spaces that feel both curated and lived-in. Whether it’s a sculptural armchair that doubles as art or a kitchen drenched in rich, moody colours, the focus is on creating spaces that feel distinct, sophisticated, and inviting.
Warm Whites and Rich Woods
Warm off-whites, creamy tones, and earthy neutrals are becoming popular. The cool, sterile whites that once defined modern interiors are stepping aside for something softer. This shift pairs beautifully with deeper, moodier wood tones like walnut and mahogany, creating spaces that feel grounded and inviting. Warm woods and soft neutrals work together to add depth, making even the most minimalist interiors feel rich and layered. The
Gianduiotto by
Calia Italia perfectly complements this shift, adding a touch of refined warmth and timeless elegance to different spaces.
Soulful Minimalism

Minimalism is evolving to become more about simplicity that feels warm and textured. Natural materials like stone, linen, and raw wood are key, creating soulful spaces. This kind of minimalism feels lived-in, not cold. Creamy beiges, terracotta accents, organic finishes. Everything that adds quiet sophistication without overwhelming the senses. Some such furniture pieces include the AX and
Filly Up dining table by
Bonaldo and the
Ginza sofa set by
Calligaris.
Texture Everywhere
Texture plays an integral role in the living space. From plush upholstery to ribbed wood finishes and handwoven fabrics, the tactile experience of a space is now becoming just as important as how it looks. Layered textures bring dimension and warmth, allowing spaces to feel cosy and refined. A leather-wrapped console table, a boucle-covered armchair, or a textured wall finish like the
Argo by
Natuzzi Italia can all add a sense of depth that colour alone cannot achieve. Combining different materials and finishes to create a space that feels rich and dynamic enhances visual and sensory depth, as exemplified by the Torii ST, a dining table by
Bonaldo.
Bold Fabrics and Patterns
Statement textiles are gaining a charm of their own. An intricately patterned velvet sofa or richly coloured curtains, fabrics are becoming a primary way to introduce personality into a room. Bold hues, and custom fabrics that feel unique add a touch of individuality to the space. One such piece,

Colour-drenching - All In or Nothing
Colour-drenching is emerging as one of the boldest trends. This design technique involves saturating a room in a single hue - walls, ceiling, and furniture all bathed in the same rich tone. Deep, moody colors like navy, burgundy, and olive green are leading the way, transforming spaces into immersive, cocoon-like environments. Colour-drenching feels bold and luxurious, offering a sense of cohesiveness to the space. Thus in a room awash in rich navy blue, the

The Comeback of Wood - Wooden Accents are the New Must-Have in Interiors
Posted on Friday December 06, 2024
In a world constantly evolving with cutting-edge designs and materials, it might seem paradoxical that furniture trends are shifting toward something as timeless as wood. But this shift is no accident and is a response to a growing desire for authenticity, sustainability, and warmth in our living spaces. Let’s dive into why wood is reclaiming its place as the material of choice in modern furniture and how this trend reflects the broader cultural movements shaping our lives.
The appeal of timeless aesthetics
Wood has a charm that is difficult to replicate. Its natural grains, unique patterns, and warm tones create a visual appeal that radiate elegance and comfort. Unlike synthetic materials or metals, wood connects us to nature, adding a sense of tranquility to our homes. Today, designers are giving classic wooden pieces a fresh twist by incorporating sleek lines and minimalist designs. With its vertical lines, enveloping curves, wooden pulled-out armrests, wingtip headrest, and plush cushioned seating, Cassia by Natuzzi Italia is one such chair that effortlessly blends into modern interiors while retaining its timeless appeal.
Sustainability combined with style
As consumers grow more conscious of their environmental footprint, the furniture industry is feeling the shift toward sustainability. Wood, particularly when sourced responsibly, is a renewable resource that aligns perfectly with eco-conscious lifestyles. Furthermore, reclaimed wood has become a sought-after material for its bold character. Designs that balance eco-conscious choices with timeless aesthetics are becoming more prevalent. For instance, modern outdoor sofas like Palinfrasca by Molteni&C, with its curved, angular lines and modular versatility, exemplifies how thoughtful craftsmanship can celebrate both sustainability and design innovation.
The revival of craftsmanship

In an era of mass production, wooden furniture stands out as a testament to artistry and craftsmanship. Whether it’s the intricate joinery of a handcrafted sofa or the smooth curves of a wooden chair, each such piece tells a story. They carry the legacy of skilled artisans who pour their creativity and expertise into every detail. There is a resurgence of interest in custom-made furniture and consumers are beginning to prefer bespoke pieces that reflect their personal tastes. Modern furniture pieces like La Caracola by Fama and D.156.3 by Molteni&C combine the beauty of wood with exceptional craftsmanship. Their versatile design, featuring elegant wooden elements add character to the living space.
The shift towards wellness-driven design
Our homes have become our safe retreats, and furniture plays a crucial role in shaping these spaces. Wood, with its organic texture and calming presence, contributes to a sense of well-being. Studies have shown that natural materials like wood can reduce stress and create a sense of comfort. Moreover, armchairs like Padua by Becker and Margaret by Natuzzi Italia incorporate ergonomic designs that prioritize functionality without compromising on beauty.
Durability that stands the test of time
One of the biggest advantages of wooden furniture is its durability. Unlike particleboard or plastic alternatives, solid wood furniture is built to last. With proper care, it can withstand decades of use, often gaining more character with age. Malva, a chair by Tonin Casa and D.150.5 by Molteni&C are two such pieces that have proven to be of remarkable quality.
A personal connection to spaces
Wooden furniture has an uncanny ability to make spaces feel more personal. Whether it’s the nostalgia of a family heirloom or the joy of discovering a unique grain pattern, wood brings warmth and individuality to a home. It invites people to slow down, appreciate the details, and create spaces that truly feel like their own.
